I
The world is doomed, we ourselves sentenced it,
With hands of greed, in shadows we permitted.
The trees now whisper in sorrowful tones,
The seas sigh heavy with forgotten bones.
II
No fiery comet from the skies above,
Just the slow rot of a loveless love.
We built the pyre, we struck the flame,
And wrote our fate in ash and shame.
III
The clocks all choke on stolen time,
While factories hum their profit-chime.
The air grows thick with ghostly breath,
A dirge for life, a dance with death.
IV
Yet in the dark, one spark remains,
A trembling hope through acid rains.
But will we wake before it’s through?
Or sleepwalk on—as fools still do?
